Mrs. Fraser was known to us as “Mother", her code name in the Underground Structures of the ANC and MK. Mother always welcomed us to her home and she always showed a keen interest in our wellbeing, understanding firsthand the uncertainty and threat that accompanied our assignments. She would always enquire not just about my emotional wellbeing, but realized that our families needed love and support as well. Always concerned about how my parents and even my brother and sister were doing. She knew every member of our Unit and our families. That's why she didn't just have the code name "Mother", she was indeed a mother to us all. We remember her selfless contributions to the Revolution and especially to the Underground Structures. She opened her house to cadres who would leave the Country for Military Training and for Cadres upon their return to the Country. I remember the time we left the country. We stayed at the Fraser home in Glenhaven for 3 days. We were well taken care of with the utmost security procedures in place. Her mother’s touch never failing… We were treated to a packed lunch of fried chicken, rolls, cooldrink and even sweet treats for our trip to Zimbabwe. We salute you Mother! Hamba Kahle.
